Thanksgiving Decor

I have had my "fall" decor out since the end of September. I added the Halloween decor around the 1st of October & went back to just the "fall" stuff around the 1st of November. I was kind of getting tired of the "fall" decor so I spiced it up a bit with some thrift store pumpkins.

Here they are, in all their glory, taped off READY TO PAINT!! There was NO WAY these ugly boogers were sitting on my mantle ;)

{I LOVE SPRAY PAINT}
Just enough change to make me smile again :)
I used Antique White paint. It looks nice on the black furniture.

This change has me satisfied for now, BUT I am still aching to drag out my Christmas tree.....

Headboard BEFORE & AFTER

I had been searching EVERYWHERE for a full size bed frame for my daughter...thrift stores, facebook, garage sales, craigslist & even the free barn!!!!! Well, I finally came across one on a Facebook sight that was less than appealing, but I could see the potential in this beauty :)

This is not the true before photo (because as always, I painted before taking photos!!) BUT, it was exactly like this.

I primed with an oil based spray primer from Sherwin Williams and added 2 coats of Satin White walmart paint.

BONUS: It came with a footboard :)
We left the little door off. We thought it looked better without it.

My daughter & I are both happy with the way it turned out. And, for only $40, I think it was a fabulous deal!!

Loving my Emroidery Hoop Art

I have been in love with the embroidery hoops I have seen on blogs & pinterest for a while now. I began collecting the hoops at garage sales & thrift stores with no problem. Finding the perfect fabric to put in the hoops was a nother story....but here they are & they are growing on me!!

I love about half of them. I figured I would just put them up and as I find more fabric I do love I could switch out the ones I don't love.

This wall has been blank since we got our new sheetrock over a year ago, so it is a nice change.

The bottom right hoop is a white linen that I added some vintage buttons to. I desperately wanted them hanging on the wall by the end of the day so had to make do with what I had :)

All in all this was a very easy project. Also, very inexpensive wall art!!

DIY SCHOOL THEMED ATTIRE

We just LOVE to show our school spirit when we go to any sporting events for our children. The only problem is....the darn sweatshirts & hoodies are soooo expensive!! They sell them for 20 & $25 a piece and for our family of 4 to all have one each season just seems a bit ridiculous. Sometimes being frugal leads me to some great ideas :)

This was a plain sweatshirt from the thrift store for $1. I made this for my 8 year old boy. It has our last name across the back.

And for my daughter who's a cheerleader. $5 sweats from walmart & fabric paint. I used my Cricut to make a stencil for each word.

I am thrilled with the way they turned out & with the price :)
