The Best is Yet To Come-A Table Makeover

When I saw this table on my local swap sight for $20 I was very interested.

It did have some problems...but nothing sandpaper & primer couldn't fix!!
I offered $10 and she took it!!

I painted it Classic Gray & added this sweet print to it using a stencil I made with my Cricut.
The bonus is that the top of this table opens up & has storage inside :)
I distressed it a bit.

I have been so busy lately. Lots of painting going on around here!!

Valentine's Decor

I did not have a blog last year during Valentine's day, but I was reading YOUR blogs & getting inspiration!! I've got some photos for you. Take a look at my last year's decor.

I made this {love} pillow out of a painter's drop cloth & stenciled on it.
Another drop cloth pillow w/ a pale pink heart attached with heat & bond, then stitched around the heart.
My 1st topiary. My daughter & I made each one of the rosettes using crepe paper streamers.
My very simple mantle.
Sweet subway art made using my Cricut.

All in all, my Valentine's decor last year was pretty minimal. I was new at this :)

Check back soon for more projects!!

DIY SCHOOL THEMED ATTIRE

We just LOVE to show our school spirit when we go to any sporting events for our children. The only problem is....the darn sweatshirts & hoodies are soooo expensive!! They sell them for 20 & $25 a piece and for our family of 4 to all have one each season just seems a bit ridiculous. Sometimes being frugal leads me to some great ideas :)

This was a plain sweatshirt from the thrift store for $1. I made this for my 8 year old boy. It has our last name across the back.

And for my daughter who's a cheerleader. $5 sweats from walmart & fabric paint. I used my Cricut to make a stencil for each word.

I am thrilled with the way they turned out & with the price :)

Autumn Subway Art Canvas

I am going to share with you one of my very 1st Cricut projects; my Autumn subway art. I made this last fall and am still loving it :0)

I used an old canvas that I had & spray painted it chocolate brown. I dug through my stash and found some fall colored scrapbook cardstock. I played around with different fonts & sizes. The canvas was a little sticky when I started adding my letters which worked out nicely because it held the letters in place until I added mod podge.

Happy Fall :)

Twelve at Twilight Party

For my daughter's 12th birthday party we went with a Twilight theme. It was a lot of fun to decorate for. She loved it :)

The Candy Bar. Stocked with cinnamon discs, cherry sours, chocolate kisses, twizzlers, m&m's (red, white & pink) & Twilight chocolates (found at party city). I used glass jars & vases I had on hand & some I found at thrift stores. Edward photo printed off the internet & framed. I put a stem of flowers in the one vase & a black feather boa in the other. The Twilight banner I made using my cricut. Used a twin sized white sheet as the tablecloth.

For the decorations I used all of my daughter's Twilight movies & books. I found the sparkly red stuff & the red rose at Dollar Tree. I sat some little chess game pieces out. We also made some of the tissue paper flowers & poofs to add to the decor.

The Twilight pop up came from Party City & the chocolate rose from Dollar Tree. The white poof is one we made.

I added some leaves to our table and used a white table cloth I had on hand. I found the red runner at a thrift store & the sparkly silver stuff at Dollar Tree. I filled a glass jar with real apples for a centerpiece.

Plates & napkins from Party City. I added an apple to my everyday decor in the hurricane.

She had a Cullen's jersey so we hung it up & sat a tub of softballs under it.

Found all of these adorable glasses at Goodwill. One for each girl. They have an "E" etched in each one of them (for Edward). I sat one of the invitations out. We handmade them with black cardstock. We used the cricut to cut the apples & wrote on the cards with silver paint pen. I added red deco balls to my cloche & put punch in my glass pitcher.

I just ordered a couple of these giant chocolate chip cookies from walmart instead of cake. The girls also had free range of everything at The Candy Bar so they had plenty ;)

For entertainment we played a game with apples & watched the Twilight movies.
It was a great party & I think all the girls had a good time.

Cute School Chair

I found 3 of the cutest little school chairs at a thrift store that were just dying to come home with me. I really didn't NEED 3 of them, but I couldn't leave them behind ;)  Plus, for $1 each I would be crazy not to buy them all!!

BEFORE

My darling little chair AFTER

I spray painted it black & used my Cricut to create a stencil. Then dry brushed with the white paint.

Such an easy, fun & frugal fix up!!

An Old Window Makeover

I found this old window on one of my many thrift store adventures. I love the way it just has the 3 panes of glass. I had it around for awhile trying to think of something to use it for. I sloppily dry brushed some white paint on it and got out my Cricut. Here is what I came up with.

It's now hanging in my dining room :)

Cheap, Cute & Easy. Just my style!!

DIY: WOOD NAME SIGN

I wanted to do a project using my Cricut and I thought this sign would be a good one. I went out to the garage to rummage through all the scrap lumber pieces until I found one that looked like a good size to me. I spray painted it an off white color and let that dry for a little bit. After my board was completely dry I brushed on some gray tinted glaze that I had on hand (bought at a local hardware store). I used a rag to rub the glaze around and wipe some back off. I had to play around with the Cricut a bit to get the right size for my letters. I just used scrapbook paper for it. I applied Mod Podge to the whole thing and let it dry.

I added the year we were married.

Sorry for the picture, no natural light when this was taken.

I think it turned out pretty cute :)

Cricut Creations

After sitting outside ALL DAY LONG IN 106 DEGREE WEATHER at our garage sale all I wanna do is this:

This is some Vinyl that I cut out with my Cricut for my bathroom wall. And it sounds oh so good right about now :)
