Happy Easter!!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Easter! My kids and I had a nice time with family at my brother's house. We had a big dinner with ham and sausage and cream cheese corn, green bean casserole, cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs, and rolls. Then on top of all that, for dessert there was pie and cookies and graham cracker fluff. If you have never tried the fluff, you should! It is so delicious!!

My kids are getting older now, but I still love giving them a basket of goodies on Easter morning.

For my daughter, who is 18, I gave her peanut butter and chocolate candies and a Starbucks gift card.

My son is 13 and he got sugar free candy and tic tacs (since we eat mostly low carb) and a basketball.

Happy Easter!!!

Spring Break Fun on a Budget

For the last couple of years, I have taken the kids to a hotel for a couple days just to relax and get away and spend time together just the three of us. We eat and shop, maybe see a movie, those kinds of things. We have really enjoyed this. Unfortunately, this year, I ended up needing some car repairs that took a big chunk out of my savings..so plans had to change a little. When I first found out how much my car would be to repair I cancelled our 2 day hotel reservation right away. We just could not afford to go this year. But, I just kept thinking about how much we would miss out on. The bonding, the laughs, the relaxation..I decided to look for a less expensive hotel room and to just stay for one night instead of two. It wasn't what we had always done, and it wasn't what we had planned to do, but it would be better than nothing, right!? I decided on a small amount of money I would spend on each of the kids and estimated how much it would cost to feed us. The hotel I found had free breakfast so we saved there. We still had a great time, even with a smaller budget. I am SO glad we didn't skip it all together. My daughter graduates from high school this year and I am cherishing every last thing we can do with the three of us.

Krispy Kreme stop was on the list.

Our room was actually pretty nice!

Relaxation

We stopped at a Humane Society and visited all the dogs.

There was a little excitement at our hotel, but all was well!!

My daughter tried makeup for free at one of her favorite stores.

When we were all wound down for the night, my daughter and I watched HGTV while my son did this :) I was okay with it. He deserved some game time after a day with mom and sister!

I almost forgot I also stopped at a new Goodwill and found my son 4 pairs of like new Nike golf shorts for $3.49 a pair. What a deal!!! :)

So even if you don't have much to spend, make the most of what you CAN do and treasure those memories made!!

School is in Session

It was a bittersweet day at our house today. My kiddos headed off to school. One 4th grader and one 8th grader. They are both in the same school for this one year together. Our district middle school is 4th thru 8th graders. They think it is kind of cool that they actually get to see each other at school now :) Both of them were really excited to get back and see their friends. I have been so apprehensive thinking about summer ending and the routine, blah, blah, blah...but, after I dropped them off at 7:35 this morning I think I heard a little bit of  " hallelujah" playing in the background. Don't get me wrong, I will miss them terribly, but the freedom to do whatever I want/need to do without the guilt of neglecting my children is wonderful!!

Here they are. Ready to go.

Random Ramblings

It has been a terribly long time since I have sat down and blogged....I feel bad about it. Something had to give. With my kids home for the summer it gets hard to set time aside to work on projects or blog. I love being home with them!! We have already been busy with lots of stuff. Baseball, cheerleading, a new baby nephew was born, sleepovers, barbecues, bonfires and the pool to name a few...We are having a blast so far and I hope you are too!!!

I am going to leave you with some eye candy. I have this pinned to my "Project Inspiration" board.

Happy Summer :)

Monday Already

Our life has been extremely busy lately. Finishing up track and cheerleading for one child, beginning baseball for another, school coming to an end, my sister moving....yea, so I feel like I have not had much time to do anything "extra". Keeping the house somewhat clean & laundry done has even been a challenge. I am so looking forward to summer at home with my kiddos!!!

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day yesterday!!! I know I sure did. My husband & children made it very special for me. I love them :)

It started out with this wonderful breakfast. All planned out by little man & cooked by hubby.

My sweet boy also planned this super lunch and made the sandwiches all by himself :)

And Kenzee made cookies.

Everything was so good & very much appreciated.

I love being a mom!!

What a Weekend

I haven't had time to do any projects for a few days. We have been super busy around here. Here's what we have been up to :)

We had an amazing time at a concert Friday night. We saw Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry & Brad Paisley. And after the show, my 2 little blondies got to meet The Band Perry & get autographs. I did not get very good photos of this because it was a fast moving line, but the above picture is Kenzee (with a security guard's arm around her) and Layne with Kimberly, the lead singer :) They were star struck!!

We went and visited grandparents yesterday and then came home for a family movie. If you haven't seen "Courageous", I would highly recommend it!!

It was a very good, eye opening Christian movie. It is by the makers of "Fireproof". If you haven't seen it, that's a good one too :)

And we started the day off today with a great church service. Now for a birthday party, oil change & groceries :)

I hope you all had a great weekend too!!

Check back soon for some more projects!!!
