Pioneer Woman Recipes

I promised you all that I would share the yummy recipes I made this weekend. Do any of you watch the The Pioneer Woman? I have only seen her show twice, but I already love her. You should definitely stop by her blog & tune in for her show on the food network. Watching her seriously inspired me to want to get in the kitchen and cook something up!! On the first episode I watched she made Spicy Pulled Pop Pork. It looked so wonderful, I had to try it.

TPW_0150

It was super easy to make & it turned out to be delicious!!!!

One of the other dishes she made, to go along with the pork was Perfect Potatoes au Gratin. At this point I was feeling like a real chef, so I went ahead and tried these too!!!

They were AMAZING!!!!

I should have taken photos of mine, but I was so hungry after smelling the pork bake for 6 hours that I forgot :)

I hope you are inspired to get in the kitchen and make a fantastic meal. I am not a great cook by any means & it all turned out for me, so I think anyone could do it!!

Fun Fabric Organization

I have a craft room. It is {bursting} at the seams, full, full, full. Kids' craft supplies, cricut, scrapbook stuff, sewing machine & sewing materials, storage spot for all of the things I want to donate or sell...and the list goes on...

So, an itty bitty place that is ORGANIZED makes me feel much better!! It's a start right!?!

Fabric all folded nicely.
No more pulling wrinkly fabric out of a messy drawer :)
Contained in one spot.
Kinda cute too!!

A little bit of organizing goes a long way in the {feel good} department!!

DIY Burlap Photo Display

I am excited to get another post up today. We had a pretty fabulous weekend so far. Friday night, little man had a friend over and we stayed home. Saturday brought lots of cleaning, some cooking (will share the recipes I used later-they were amazing) and loads and loads of laundry. Went to church this morning and get to stay home all afternoon :) My {favorite cheerleader} has practice this evening & I am very happy that it's nice out today (52 degrees already). Little man and I are gonna do some walking while we wait for her.

This project I am sharing today was one of my very first projects, pre-blogging days. It was simple & cheap, but I still love it!!

An old wooden thrift store frame painted black.
These clips were thrift store finds also. Spray painted them black.
Cardboard covered in burlap. Hot glued into place.

I used to have it hanging in my living room.

Now it's propped up on my sewing desk :)

Be sure to check back soon for a peek at some organization!!

A Little Burst of Sunshine

I am sure you have all seen this telephone table for sale at walmart.

Not a very pretty sight, but it's served it's purpose.

It has been around for years and years. And, has almost made it's way to the DUMP a time or two. But, it's sturdy & a nice small size for a side table, so it's stayed...

If I am going to keep it around for another 10 years, it needed a {makeover}.

A splash of yellow paint sure **brightened** it up :)

This is not it's permanent home. I just put it here for photos. I really don't know where I will put it, but I do know, that even if it's back in the basement, at least it will bring a {little burst of sunshine} to that dark, dreary place :)

I didn't sand it, just primer & one coat of yellow. It gives it that imperfectly shabby look I love.

More projects in the works!! Check back soon :)

Freezer Rack to Jewelry Holder

Another Pinterest inspiration project complete!! Here is what I saw.
How To: Oven Rack to Jewelry Rack

Well, I just happened to have an old rack like this. It was dirty & rusty & perfect :)
There is even sentimental value in this old thing. It came out of hubby's grandparents' old deep freeze.

{before}

I used a clearance can of spray paint called "Raspberry" by Krylon. I did prime it first to be sure the paint would stick. Let it dry overnight and tied a little lace to the corner.
{gorgeous}
Isn't it fabulous!?
I can't get enough of it!!

This project was too easy!!

Now my daughter & I can fight over who gets it :)

Valentine Centerpiece

I finally got around to putting together a centerpiece for my dining room table. I had Christmas ornaments in a hurricane vase throughout December, but since then, it's been sitting empty. In the middle of the table. Staring at me. Begging me to do something, ANYTHING with it. Even though it's a school night & I should not be neglecting my kids to work on Valentine's crafts, I did. I didn't feel too bad since little man was making play-doh masterpieces & the princess was making artwork for her locker. We were all busy doing our own thing :) Oh, and hubby was at work. Can't forget him!!

Red sand, lima beans & hearts on a stick.

A little jute twine tied around the base.
For the hearts I traced a cookie cutter & cut them out of felt. I stuck them together with hot glue.

Simplicity

I have a couple other projects in the works, so be sure to check back soon!!

What a Weekend

I haven't had time to do any projects for a few days. We have been super busy around here. Here's what we have been up to :)

We had an amazing time at a concert Friday night. We saw Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry & Brad Paisley. And after the show, my 2 little blondies got to meet The Band Perry & get autographs. I did not get very good photos of this because it was a fast moving line, but the above picture is Kenzee (with a security guard's arm around her) and Layne with Kimberly, the lead singer :) They were star struck!!

We went and visited grandparents yesterday and then came home for a family movie. If you haven't seen "Courageous", I would highly recommend it!!

It was a very good, eye opening Christian movie. It is by the makers of "Fireproof". If you haven't seen it, that's a good one too :)

And we started the day off today with a great church service. Now for a birthday party, oil change & groceries :)

I hope you all had a great weekend too!!

Check back soon for some more projects!!!

Valentine's Decor

I did not have a blog last year during Valentine's day, but I was reading YOUR blogs & getting inspiration!! I've got some photos for you. Take a look at my last year's decor.

I made this {love} pillow out of a painter's drop cloth & stenciled on it.
Another drop cloth pillow w/ a pale pink heart attached with heat & bond, then stitched around the heart.
My 1st topiary. My daughter & I made each one of the rosettes using crepe paper streamers.
My very simple mantle.
Sweet subway art made using my Cricut.

All in all, my Valentine's decor last year was pretty minimal. I was new at this :)

Check back soon for more projects!!

The Little Things

I don't know about you, but I love it when I make a project for Christmas & make one tiny change to it & BAM, it works for Valentine's too!! My coffee filter wreath is one of those projects that may just work all year round!!!!

Here it is at Christmas, with a sparkly red snowflake.
And a sparkly pink foam heart totally transforms it :)
{love}
Yep, I think I love it!!

So, even if you don't have a lot of time to spend on a project, there are ALWAYS little things that can be done that are great too!!

Hanging Hearts

Okay, in yesterday's post I gave you a sneak peak of my project in process. Well, I got it all finished up yesterday evening, but it was too late to get any good photos, so I had to wait until this morning for that. I have to give you a little background information about this project. First of all: I have a grandma that reads my blog & follows my Pins on Pinterest. I had come across so many of the cute little crocheted hearts & been Pinning every one of them :)

Hearts...

Crochet hearts

My grandma saw these hearts & showed them to her sister (my great aunt), who is a wonderful crafter!! She made 30 little hearts & let me come & pick out which ones I wanted!!!! I left her house will all of them ;) Here are a few of them hanging on my latest project.

{love}

I went outside & searched the ground for a nice branch that would work for this, but couldn't find one. I got this one off of a tree in our yard. Stuck it in some foam in a milk glass dish and added some moss.
My love birds look just right here :)

This little Valentine tree is just what I needed for this space!!
